PRESS RELEASE: Concord, CA.  April 21, 2008 – As the third offering of their 2008 main stage season, the Willows Theatre Company presents Dore Schary’s Tony award-winning drama Sunrise at Campobello, May 5-June 1 at the Willows Theatre, 1975 Diamond Blvd. in the Willows Shopping Center in Concord. Sunrise tells the story of the beginnings of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s political career and his struggle with a sudden illness that turned the vital, energetic young father into a victim of total and permanent paralysis from the waist down. This early view of Roosevelt’s life also highlights the tensions between the two strong women closest to him, his wife Eleanor and his mother Sara, who clashed continuously for his affections and loyalty. A compelling story for all ages, Sunrise is directed by Willows Theatre Producing Artistic Director Richard Elliott. <more>
