High School Intern Training Program

Properties Internship

Description: 
This internship involves one-on-one training with a professional properties designer.  Interns will assist with designing, building and procuring all props for a specific production. They will learn how to pull rehearsal props and receive training in properties construction, carpentry, crafts, soft goods, research and procurement.  Members of the Willows Theatre staff serve as mentors to each intern, providing training and background as needed for the tasks at hand.  At the completion of their internship, interns will receive written evaluations and/or recommendations, letters of reference, and a certificate of achievement. 

Pre-performance commitment:

  • Rehearsal prop pull: one afternoon or evening

  • Construction and procurement:  two afternoons or evenings per week

  • Rehearsals: one evening per week

  • Designer watch: one evening

  • Technical rehearsals: one weekend

Performance commitment:

  • None

Skill required:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Team player, ability to work cooperatively with peers and professionals

  • Able to follow instruction clearly and safely

  • Well-organized, detail oriented, and punctual

  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in the arts
