SummerStage
2008!
June 16th - July 27th
For campers entering Grade 7 - Graduation!
Program:
For half of the day, campers receive instruction in acting,
improvisation, musical theater and dance. All classes are taught by highly
qualified instructors who currently work in the professional theatre and have
extensive experience working with young people.
Campers spend the rest of the day rehearsing for the
fully staged musical production at the end of camp. This year, we
are extremely proud to be the first conservatory program ever to
produce
RENT: SCHOOL EDITION!

RENT, SCHOOL EDITION is Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer-prize winning
Broadway musical, and the Willows Theatre Conservatory is the first
summer theater camp to produce it! It follows a year in the lives
of seven friends living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New
York's East Village. Dealing with the devastation of AIDS in their
tight-knit community, the friends wage a battle between Bohemian values
and the grim reality of their contemporary lives and complicated
relationships. RENT: SCHOOL EDITION deals with mature themes and
subject matters.
All campers will be cast in the show! Auditions for specific roles will be held
in the weeks prior
to camp.
The first 4 weeks of camp
take place at St. Catherine of Siena School in Downtown Martinez; 604
Mellus Street. Our camp day is from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The last 2 weeks of camp take place at the Willows
Theatre in Concord and are devoted to technical
rehearsals and performances! Performances are
July 22 - 27, and these include matinee, evening and weekend performances. Tickets to the productions will be
on sale to the general public.
