2012 Class Offerings
Spring 2012 First Mondays First Mondays is a workshop series for teenage
actors looking to sharpen and build their skills on stage.
The Willows Theatre Conservatory will present a different Master
Class on the first Monday of each month.
Each workshop is focused on a different theatre skill set and is
taught by a Bay Area theatre professional.
Students will receive the highest level of professional theatre
training in our intimate two-hour workshops.
Class sizes are limited so that each participant may receive as much
individual attention as possible.
The workshops meet from 6 pm – 8 pm at one of the company’s three
theatre spaces. Students may
sign up for one class at a time, or may register for a four-class package at
a reduced rate. Don’t miss this

Then this is the class for you!
Learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing in this fun
class designed for the young musical theatre lover.
The aim of this course is to cultivate an enjoyment for musical
theater through the study of a variety of Broadway repertoire.
Musical
Theatre Fundamentals 2 (Grades 6-8)
This class is designed
for students who have taken previous classes in drama or musical theatre.
Using songs from Broadway musicals (and maybe even one or two from
Glee!), students learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing.
Students perform both solo and group numbers in this fun and exciting
class, which aims to promote presence and self-confidence.
The class culminates in a fully-staged and choreographed musical
theatre revue. Pre-requisite:
Musical Theatre FUNdamentals or Broadway Song & Dance.
New students wishing to take this class must contact the Conservatory
Director before registering.
Drama
FUNdamentals (Grades 2-6)
This class provides a
terrific introduction to the basics of acting.
Whether you are a natural diva, or need help coming out of your
shell, the techniques learned in this class can be applied to the stage as
well as everyday life. Each
fun-filled class revolves around the two main tenants of theatre - "Be seen
and be heard." Students will
learn improvisation, theater games, story-telling, vocal projection,
character movement, and other aspects of dramatic training designed to
expand the imagination and spark creativity.
Drama FUNdamentals 2 (Grades 4-7)
The advanced level of
Drama FUNdamentals is the perfect follow-up to our beginning course!
Students build on the principles there were introduced to in the
first level of the class, by continuing to explore characters, movement, and
stage presence. In this class,
students will begin to work on scripted scenes, in addition to continuing to
work on their improvisation skills.
Students will work on scenes from popular plays, films, and
television shows; as well as writing their own original scenes.
The class will culminate in a festival of all of these theatrical
works. Pre-requisite: Drama
FUNdamentals. New students
wishing to take this class must contact the Conservatory Director before
registering.
Musical Theatre Dance (Grades 7-12)
This exciting new class
is perfect for older students who are looking to improve their dance skills.
The most successful performers are the most versatile, and dance is
an essential skill for every actor.
In this class, we will explore a wide array of dance styles found in
musical theatre – from jazz, to hip hop, to ballet, to tap.
Musical Theatre Dance is offered as a 4-week intensive to accommodate
young actors’ busy schedules.
