Willows Theatre Co. 2008-2009 Season

Inspiring, Comical, Challenging, Innovative

Willows Theatre Main Stage, Concord

The Willows Theatre Company is thrilled to announce our 2008-2009 season of plays and musicals at the conveniently located and intimate Willows Theatre in Concord, and hope you and your friends and family will join us for a Celebration of Love! Each of our six shows addresses a different aspect of that most powerful, sometimes painful, and ultimately joyful of human emotions.

We open this fall with a story of the innocent love of a meek and humble gardener for his down-and-out co-worker - despite their discovery of a "new and unusual" bloodthirsty plant - who all come together in the Little Shop of Horrors, the hit Broadway musical by the creators of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

Next, just in time for election season, comes a new political farce about love of power, money, and semi-erotic dancers, as a group of bumbling politicos find themselves running a re-election campaign for a state senator who has, unfortunately, passed away in a most undignified manner. Lying in State will have you in stitches all the way to the polls.

For the holidays, we will bring you one of the most lovable characters ever seen on the Broadway stage – Mame – the classic musical about the adventures of a New York socialite and her young orphaned nephew, who live by the credo "Life’s a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!"

Then we are pleased to present the West Coast Premiere of the newest comedy by the author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over BuffaloBe My Baby celebrates the silliness of young love, the travails of finding love late in life, and the joy of a newborn baby no matter what your age.

Next, we are proud to feature Willows favorites Stu Klitsner and Barbara Grant in one of the most affectionate and amusing homages to life-long love, Ernest Thompson’s beloved play of rare simplicity and beauty – On Golden Pond.

And finally, we are excited to present the Bay Area Premiere of the recent Broadway hit musical The Wedding Singer, a fast, funny, fond flashback to the 1980’s based on the hit movie of the same name.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed, all for you at the Willows Theatre in Concord, where you will find the quality, intimacy and variety you have come to know and love over the years – and free parking is nice, too!

Order your tickets today for the best seats. We look forward to a truly memorable season of shows. Thanks so much, and we’ll see you at the theater!
